Spotlight keystrokes

Spotlight search results can -instead of directly be opened in the appropriate application- revealed in the finder window without the need of showing all results in the Spotlight window first.

Here is how to do it:
Hold down the Command key and click on an entry in the drop-down list of Spotlight’s matches.
Result: A new Finder window opens to the folder containing the selected item.

  • 'Command' also known as 'Apple key' (⌘; the Apple key symbol apple disappeared from keyboards released on august 7th 2007 and later)
  • 'Option' also known as 'Alt'
  • Function also known as Fn
